As we all know, globalisation has
become one hot topic in recent few years. A lot of people still don’t
understand what is globalisation actually? Globalisation can be referred as the
process by which businesses or other organizations develop international
influence or start operating business on an international scale, based on a
research of what globalisation means. There is a gradual increase going on in
globalisation effects affecting our country, Indonesia, right at this moment,
and will continue to grow each day. Globalisation is the way to open new
businesses on international level for international players. Globalisation
affects our daily lives, whether we want it or not. It can be seen in changes
of technology nowadays. Globalisation provides quite amazing number of profit
gained by successful businessmen, as they tend to get things in lowest price
from the third countries and sell it in higher price in big countries. Thereby,
people need to adapt to new environments caused by globalisation so that they
won’t become a victim of globalisation.
The world later in 10 or 20 more years
can be frightening. People need to have good education to start their adult job
life. It can be started with choosing the right major in the right college. Choosing
the wrong major in college can be fatal, it’s like you’ve wasted your precious
time learning something you don’t like and the worst thing is, you got zero
interest in it. This will significantly reduce your winning percentage. But if
you do good in college, at least you’ll have more chances to be recruited into
a company, because it’s going to be really tough for people to be found by job.
Most commonly people will have to try very hard to find a job that suits them.
Interviews by interviews, rejections by rejections.
If we finally got our employment, we
shall not waste it. We have to give our best and prove our faithfulness to the
company. You surely don’t want to be kicked out a week after you got into the
company just because you are rude and stubborn to others. Don’t argue your boss
just because small things, and just do what he/she wants. This could be a step
to higher rank of job and higher salary.
We probably need to understand few
languages, just in case we got into a conversation with people from another
country who couldn’t speak Bahasa Indonesia, whether its for business thing or
personal thing. This can be gained by a lot of conversation and a lot of
practice, and of course a lot of learning. But what is learning without any
practical experiments?
Because of
globalisation, the connections between each human being become more odd each
day. It is caused by advanced technology that keeps on soaring. Easiest example,
phone and internet. Phones provide what people need for a communication device
while internet helps to connect each people from different devices. Both work well
together, making the world a smaller place. At the same time, people that are
close to us are getting farther and farther away. It will be great if people can
start to put down their phones and talk more to their nearest person.
In order not
to be the victim of globalisation, people need to adapt to our environment’s
changes. The simplest way to adapt is by learning, reading, and adjust. Reading
newspaper and keeping an eye on latest witting occures can be a good start.
Learning something new everyday can help our brain to stimulates things faster
and better, such like finding the best solution for today’s matter. Reading a
lot of books and browsing some credible sources online might help too. But
again, people need to experience the situation themselves to understand how the
world works. If we do a lot of practical work, we can adjust to our
surroundings quicker, and it’s a good thing.
Diversity
doesn’t mean discrimination towards minority of people amongst us. Diversity
means people have to have respect for others, not mocking others for their
weaknesses. People need to stop presuming difference as a funny joke and start
to be more mature about this. It would be bad if people assume that we are bad
persons, this could lead into bad relationships and create wretched connection.
If we think quite far to when we are going to have job, what if we need the
people whom we “bullied” right at this moment?
If someday we
are going to be married and have children, maybe it’s better for us to keep
both our eyes on them. We don’t want our children to take wrong steps which can
lead to lack of self-awareness, bad attitude, lack of communication skill, etc.
Asking how their days went is a good example. Cooking them home-made meal,
spend weekends with them, play outside together, watch movies at home and read
them bedtime stories can be great too.
